BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING KITSELAS LANDS:
Economic Reconciliation & Government Support
Federal, provincial and municipal governments have made it a top priority to foster reconciliation with Indigenous communities. Leasing and developing Indigenous lands fosters both relationship-building and economic opportunities for Indigenous people. Economic reconciliation efforts provide additional avenues for government support and recognition.
Major Projects Collaboration
Kitselas First Nation Traditional Territory is located on the hub of many major projects from the BC LNG projects – Coastal Gaslink, LNG Canada, PNW LNG, Kitimat LNG and the Port in Prince Rupert. Building relationships with the Nation in which you’re conducting business is key for moving projects forward in an efficient and mutually beneficial manner.
Access to Services & Labour
Access to a short-term, skilled labour force and construction services can be one of the challenges faced when looking to develop in rural areas of the province. As leaders in the local resources sector, Kitselas Development LP offers environmental and forestry training services to support local developers. Many of our members are also skilled labourers who have built experience through local construction and development projects.
Land Knowledge & Conservation Efforts
With over 5,000 years of history on our traditional territory, we are experts in the local topography and terrain. We can provide strategic consultation during the creation of development and building plans to better ensure the health and longevity of properties and structures. We can also provide education on the local ecosystem to help organizations fulfill conservation requirements.
Social Responsibility & Marketing
Many business sectors have mandated Indigenous reconciliation as part of their social responsibility programs. Leasing and developing Indigenous lands can fulfill these social responsibility requirements. In addition, promoting these partnerships and ventures can be used to demonstrate your company’s alignment with government and sector priorities.
